The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
